Vintage photos of our Veterans…

The Tri-City Herald is seeking photos of vintage photos of veterans.  They would love photos from all eras and wars.  If you would like your photos in this special publication, be sure to include your name, hometown and dates or era of service with your submissions. They also want to make sure that the photos are clearly marked with the veteran’s name.  The deadline to submit photos in Nov. 1.  The special publication will be be available in newspapers and on tricityherald.com on November 11, 2010.

Armed Forces Day celebrated

Armed Forces Day is being celebrated in the Tri-Cities Saturday May 15th with a BBQ event at the Community of Christ Church in Richland, at the corner of Swift & Long. Veterans and their families are being honored as well as the members of local troop support group, Washington Operation Thank You, starting at 11:00am. The barbeque and silent auction proceeds will be donated to Washington Operation Thank You for their continued efforts in sending care packages to our troops. Call 845-2009 for more information.

West Richland 2009 Veteran’s Day Parade

On a cool, crisp November morning this last Saturday, hundreds of patriots lined the street of West Richland to show honor those Veterans who have served and those currently serving our country. There were many groups, floats, bands and individuals who took to the parade route and their flags snapped vigorously in the wind. Spirits were high and the audience was obviously appreciative of the men and women of our armed forces.

Below is a presentation of those participating.
