Kennewick School District Bond Election – May 19, 2009

The Kennewick School Board voted unanimously at their last board meeting to run the bond election again on May 19, 2009 for the same amount of $68,000,000 for the same projects that were in the previous construction of a new elementary school in Badger Canyon and the remodel of 4 elementary schools – Canyon View, Southgate, Sunset View and Cascade – that will all be over 30 years old by the time they are remodeled. Plus, Lincoln would be renovated with available state matching funds.

The Tri-City Association of Realtors are encouraging the citizens of Kennewick to vote “YES” for this bond election. We strongly believe that having new or updated schools in our neighborhoods, adds to the value of those homes within the vicinity of the schools.

The March 10 bond generated 59.3% yes votes, but bonds must pass by 60%. because the election was so close and because the bond campaign is still fresh in people’s minds, the district is going to run the bond again.

Good schools are good for the community……good for economic development and the quality of life in Kennewick. Please vote “Yes” in the May 19th bond elections.
